Cleaners, caregivers, doctors, nurses, supply chain workers, ambulance drivers, truck drivers, sanitizers, sweepers and scientists. Thank you all. Thank you baristas and bartenders, chefs and cheer-bringers. Thank you, every single person that did, is doing, what they could and can to keep us all as well as we can be. Thanks to our keepers.
Synonyms for Keep: Carry. Preserve. Care For. Save.
We keep our families, our neighbours, our friends. And they keep us.
We also keep strangers. And they keep us. We can tell ourselves it's our job, it's their job. This is true, of course.
The inspiration comes in how the job is done. And how it keeps being done. That sense of commitment, that recognition, that acceptance of a shared experience, a common humanity.
How the job is done. How, when exhaustion, or disillusionment finally brings one down, others step in to keep things going, to keep keeping us.
Thank you.
